Looking Back

Well, it's that time of year again.  The time that we're supposed to reflect on what's happened in the past year before making our resolutions for the next one.  I have to be honest, I haven't always done that.  I've always been the person that looks ahead, always in a hurry to move into my future, go to the next phase of my life.  And year after year I've easily put the past year behind me and looked forward to the next without much reflection at all and shamefully without much prayer and thanks.  But as I've gotten a little older (yes, only a little older), I'm starting to appreciate what my elders have always said about time going by faster as you get older.  It is true.  And as more blessings come into my life, the more urgency I feel for time to just stand still. And now, I do find myself looking back and reflecting.

So, our newest blessing that happened for us this year is our new home.  I'm now living in the home that I believe I will raise my children in.  Most days I look around and just marvel at this new place we've moved into and I can't believe how utterly perfect it is for our family.  The area of town we've moved into is beautiful and quiet.  And the house itself is just...well...perfect.  There are no other words.  So, for the next couple of days I will be saying a lot of prayers of thanks and spending some quiet time with my family in our "still new to us" beautiful home.
